Why we love it

Combining premium tented accommodation with wonderful food & warm hospitality, Paperbark Camp is a peaceful bush retreat in beautiful Jervis Bay – think camping for grownups!

One of Australia’s first luxury camps, the African inspired tented accommodation at Paperbark Camp continues to operate at the forefront of unique Australian experiences, combining a tranquil bush setting with great food and wine, genuine hospitality and native marine and wildlife encounters.

Food

Guests enjoy breakfast and dinner in the highly regarded and award winning treetop restaurant, The Gunyah. Stays include full breakfast and three course dinner. The Gunyah offers a unique dining experience, with a focus on local and seasonal produce showcased in contemporary set menus.

In the warmer months, The Gunyah sliding doors open up for outdoor dining on the verandah, providing a bushy backdrop to candlelit meals and to observe the goings on of our resident possums, sugar gliders and birdlife.

In winter, an open fire with cosy lounges is the perfect place to curl up after dinner with a nightcap, perhaps swap a few traveling tales with other guests, or enjoy a game of cards.

Destination

Paperbark Camp is located south of Sydney in Jervis Bay, which is part of the Shoalhaven region. The Shoalhaven has a wealth of natural treasures but the bay area is the jewel in its crown with its calm, clear waters, amazing white sand beaches and pristine coastal bush landscapes. The area boasts three national parks: The Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay National Park and Jervis Bay Marine Park which together include many kilometres of walking trails and deserted beaches as well as provide sanctuary to a wide variety of wildlife and underwater creatures.

Paperbark Camp is 4km from the small holiday town of Huskisson on the shores of the bay where the Currambene Creek meets the bay. Also around the bay are Vincentia, Hyams Beach and Jervis Bay Village which is in the Booderee National Park.

Experiences

Do it all… or nothing at all. Explore Jervis bay or just enjoy a well earned chance to relax at the camp.

For many guests, a stay at Paperbark Camp is a well earned chance to sleep in, enjoy a long lazy breakfast on the verandah with the papers, perhaps a couple of hours on the beach with a good book before heading back for an afternoon snooze and contemplating another candle lit dinner in the Gunyah.

For others, it is a base from which to get busy exploring the spectacular Jervis Bay area with its pristine beaches and award winning national parks, a true playground for the outdoor enthusiast.
